Disable Recent Documents History in Windows

Sometimes you want to keep your privacy intact when you browse files in your system. You don’t want anybody to know about which files you were looking into. Microsoft windows include a feature that keeps an eye of all recent documents you have opened or used. There are some pros and cons about the same. To re-open any document quickly you can select Start >Recent Documents History. I asked my friends circle of about 25 and almost none of them were using this feature. So why not to disable the feature to keep the privacy intact for security purpose ?

Follow the simple steps below:

1. Click on Start > Run, type “regedit” (without quotes), and click enter.
2. Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Mcft\Windows\ CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer.
3. Create a NoRecentDocsHistory D_WORD key. Double-click the value to open it once it is created.
4. Set the Data Value to 1 to enable the restriction.
5. Click OK and close the Registry Editor.

Restart your computer for the implemented change to take effect.
