I would be giving you some tips of how to handle the spamming.

1. Using spam filters
Spam filters uses a dictionary method or a more robust, effective spam filtering method to filter spam if certain words were present (e.g. "Viagra" or "Sex"). Over 20 percent of email servers uses spam filters developed by Ironport (Now acquired by Cisco.Gmail,Yahoo,Rediff,Hotmail uses spam filters effectively. But one should remember that no filter is perfect, so it is important to take other preventative measures as well.

2. Eliminate Viruses.
Your computer can turn into virus machine if you fail to take other preventive measures.Sometimes spam mails do not come into the spam filters and it can easily enter your computer and can pose a threat to your computer. One should be very careful because these virus can steal your personnel information.Keep your antivirus up to date.

3. Be Vigil and always keep Your Email Account Safe.
When you sign up online forms, read the details carefully and do not forget to uncheck checkboxes for additional offers, that you don’t need at all. Otherwise, you'll receive email from partners of the site you signed up at and you will help the spammers to attack your account/computer easily.

4. Use Freebie Accounts to fight out spamming.
It is one of the simplest way to fight out from spamming. You just need to sign up for some freebie accounts and redirect them to your main account. Then use those freebie accounts whenever you need to signup for something online. If an account gets spammed, disable or delete it. Never use your primary email address to sign up for anything.

For example if your primary address is tech-guru@yourdomain.com ,sign up for freebie account say Gmail and using POP3 link your primary account with Gmail.Spam mails will be filtered in gmail itself and your primary address will receive non-spam mails. Some freebie accounts are available with AOL,Gmail,Rediff,Lycos,Yahoo. Whatever you do, do not publish your main email address anywhere online

5. Pick The Right Email Address.
Choose your email address carefully and wisely. Companies often create email addresses based on an employee's first initial and last name, making it extremely easy for a dictionary spamming attack to be successful on employees common last names. This allows spammers to harvest company directories.Don't use email addresses like f.lastname@mydomain.com or lastnamef@mydomain.com, where "f" is your first name.

If you are using a freebie account as your primary one, you should choose your provider carefully. Not all freebie accounts do an equal job of filtering spam. For example, Gmail or Yahoo are a better option than Hotmail.

6. Never buy anything
Spam email generally offers advertisement to buy something.Never buy anything from link in a spam email. If you do, you can assume your details will be passed on to others. So make sure that you do not buy anything from those promotional offers that are made in those spam mails

Many times if you notice that you get a mail wherein the subject is mentioned " your mail is not delivered. This is a very common and clever trick used by spammers.Beware of spam with a subject line suggesting your email was undeliverable. Strictly ignore them.
