Does Auto play option for USB drive annoy you? This is a good feature indeed but sometimes it can be fatal for your PC or laptop because you use your USB drive in many PC’s to transfer the data and you may not be aware that your USB is infected with the deadly viruses like Trojan and believe me that “Prevention is better than cure”. One way to prevent the autorun USB viruses in XP is to turn off the auto insert notification for all drives, so that the viruses will not be executed when the USB is plugged in.
Follow the simple steps to do so:

1) Go to Start Menu > Run
2) Type gpedit.msc then press Enter
3) Select Administrative Templates > System as shown in image-01 in screenshot.
4) Set the radio button to Enabled and change “Turn off Autoplay on” to All Drives as shown in image-02 in screenshot.
